Food is something that connects people across different cultures and experiences through taste, community, and hospitality. It is also the key to living a healthy lifestyle! At TRUE Health Medical, our nutritionists are committed to helping our clients not only enjoy the food they eat but also to feel great as a result of the food they eat. Whether you are looking to improve your energy or mood or would like to get in healthier shape, our nutritionists can be of excellent help!
Do Nutritionists help you lose weight?
In addition to helping your body function properly, nutritionists can also help you lose weight! In fact, weight loss often occurs as a result of nutritional therapy restoring balance to your bodily processes, such as your hormone production and metabolism.
Why is nutrition important?
You may have heard the saying, “you are what you eat,” and while that saying can be misleading, it actually does have scientific merit! After breaking down the food and liquid we consume into proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, and water, our body converts it into energy, amino acids, fatty acids, and other essential substances. These substances help our body produce new cells and enzymes, regulate hormone production and other bodily processes, and continue functioning correctly day in and day out. In this way, what we put into our body inevitably determines what our body will be like, whether that is healthy or unhealthy.
For this reason, nutrition is essential to take proper care of your body and mind! If the food we eat is consistently high in fat or carbohydrates but low in protein or vitamins, our bodily processes will be imbalanced, leading to numerous health conditions, including diabetes, obesity, certain cancers, or even mental health issues. In contrast, proper nutrition can improve your mood, energy, concentration levels, and can also help you lose weight.
What does a nutritionist do?
Nutritionists are healthcare providers that help individuals live healthier lifestyles and reach their health-related goals by focusing on their diet, exercise, and sleeping habits. In order to provide proper support to their clients, nutritionists offer the following services:
- Client health education regarding the importance of food nutrition, cooking tips, and more
- Develop diet and exercise plans that are customized to each client’s specific needs, preferences, and overall health condition
- Evaluate the client’s overall health, including sleeping habits and mental or emotional well-being
- Hold regular meetings and appointments with clients to track their progress, encourage them to keep sticking to their nutrition plan, listen to any concerns, and make any necessary adjustments to the nutrition plan
What is the difference between dietitian and nutritionist?
The primary difference between a dietitian and a nutritionist is in title and education. As such, a dietitian must complete an undergraduate degree and practicum before they can use the title of a dietitian, while nutritionists do not require an undergraduate degree to specialize in nutrition. Consequently, dietitians can provide services to patients with clinical conditions, while nutritionists can only provide health promotion services. At TRUE Health Medical, our licensed naturopathic physician, Dr. Bobi Farrow, also specializes in nutrition and would be happy to provide nutrition services to you if you are looking for a great way to improve your health! We serve patients from Gilbert AZ, Chandler AZ, Queen Creek AZ, Sun Lakes AZ, Mesa AZ, Sacaton AZ, and Apache Junction AZ.
